Account
Do I need to create an account?
No. All core features (mushaf, translation, recording, prayer times, qibla, dhikr) work without an account. Signing in with Google or email is only needed for Public Sharing, leaderboards, and multiplayer rooms.
What data does Utluma receive when I sign in?
From a Google account: your name, email address, and profile photo; from email sign-in: your email address only. No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics inside the app.
How do I delete my account?
Send a request from your account's email address to admin@utluma.com with the subject "Delete account". We complete it within 30 days. Details are on the Delete account page.
Recitation recording
Where are my recordings stored?
In the app's private storage on your device. Recordings are not uploaded unless you choose to publish them as a Public Share.
When is the microphone active?
Only during a recitation session you start. You can revoke microphone permission from your system settings at any time.
Prayer times and qibla
Where do prayer times come from?
From the Aladhan service based on your device's coordinates, with calculation method and school of thought you can change in settings. We do not store your coordinates.
Can I use it without location permission?
Yes. Deny location permission and pick a city manually; prayer times and qibla are still calculated for that city.
The adzan notification isn't playing. What should I check?
Make sure notifications for Utluma are allowed in your system settings, battery saver isn't restricting the app, and prayer times have loaded for today. On some Android phones, also enable "alarms and reminders".
Offline downloads
Can the mushaf be read without internet?
Yes, once the Quran database has been downloaded on first open. Translation and tafsir are also available offline.
How do I download murottal?
Open the downloads menu, choose a reciter and surah. Files are stored on your device and can be deleted per surah to save space.
Language
What languages are supported, and how do I change it?
Indonesian, English, and Arabic. Change it from Settings inside the app; the Arabic layout displays right to left.
Why does the surah name spelling differ between languages?
The spelling follows each language's reader conventions: At-Taubah for Indonesian, At-Tawbah for English, and التوبة for Arabic.
